About City Centre

The City Centre is the heart of Coquitlam, with multiple access points to the SkyTrain and a West Coast Express stop. This is the most urban of areas in Coquitlam, with numerous different malls, squares, and retail shops. Coquitlam Centre Mall, City Centre Aquatic Complex, Douglas College, and Lake Lafarge Park are located here. Coquitlam Centre mall was the primary catalyst for this area becoming Coquitlam City Centre. Development started in 1979, and this mall has had subsequent expansions since then. There are several schools to choose from and a wide array of housing styles and options. Everything is an easy walk away in this neighborhood, both in time and in pedestrian-friendly streets.

City Centre is perfect for working locally or for commuting downtown. There are three main access points to the Skytrain - Coquitlam Central, Lincoln, and Lafarge-Lake Douglas. Several bus routes span from Maple Ridge to Vancouver on a single bus, making City Centre a prime location for commuters.

There are many restaurants and food options, from a fancy dine-in experience to a quick bite. Despite being the most urban neighbourhood in Coquitlam, there are a number of nature-filled strolls and hikes, thanks to proactive city planning. This area also holds Coquitlam city hall, main police station, and main fire hall.

Real Estate in City Centre

This area has it all in terms of real estate. There are commercial buildings for sale, hi-rise and low rise apartments, single-family homes, and co-ops! While already urban, this neighbourhood continues to develop. There are multiple towers close to the convenient Coquitlam Centre, with these apartments ranging from 1-3 bedrooms typically, like the Frontenac building. Many of these buildings have lovely cafes and barber shops, meaning convenience is only steps away! While you may be in the heart of Coquitlam, you do not have to compromise on beautiful mountain views because views from multiple sides of these apartments are common.

A little bit north of Coquitlam Centre (still in the city centre), you will find single-family homes as well as lower-rise apartments like Dearwood Court on Pipeline Road. Known as the area called River Springs, these homes were built in the 1970s, roughly at the same time Coquitlam Centre was built. These houses are excellent investment and development opportunities! These typically two-storey homes tend to be renovated and well kept. Some homes here have separate entry suites, and some have inlaw suites, perfect for a student attending Douglas College - a mere 15-minute walk away. These homes are right next to Lake Lafarge Park and Town Centre Park, close to the Coquitlam River and the Coquitlam River Trail.

Just north of Douglas college is a housing co-op named Westwood Housing Co-operative, owned by Community Land Trust. Westwood Housing is one of a few housing co-ops in this area aimed at assisted living for seniors.

Commercial real estate opportunities abound in this neighbourhood with various retail options. This includes restaurants, grocers, and office spaces, many of which provide fantastic foot traffic. Many of these smaller offices hold medical, dental, and accountant services, convenient for those who live nearby.
