About Fleetwood, Surrey, BC
Fleetwood is at the heart of Surrey's northern half, surrounded by the neighbourhoods of Newton (southwest), Cloverdale (southeast), Guildford (northeast), and Whalley (northwest). This community was bestowed its name by Edith Francis, one of the founding members of the Fleetwood Community Association, who settled in this area in 1907 with James Francis. In 1923, Edith petitioned to have the community named "Fleetwood" after her late brother, Arthur Fleetwood, who served with the 47th Canadian Infantry Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in France in 1917.
This centrally located community of Surrey is predominantly residential and known for its more prestigious, newly developed, beautiful neighbourhoods and parks. Though it is the smallest of Surrey's prominent neighborhoods, Fleetwood and all it offers continue to attract many newcomers, making it the fastest-growing community in Surrey. Fleetwood Park
Amongst the extraordinary number of parks within the relatively small neighbourhood of Fleetwood is Fleetwood Park. If city life makes you yearn for old-growth forests, this is the park for you. An approximately thirty-minute walk along a 1.8 km trail loop takes you through a beautiful, old-growth forest. If walking isn't quite your thing, fear not. Fleetwood Park offers many other recreational experiences to its visitors, such as play areas, a spray park, and picnic shelters. This park also hosts the impressive Fleetwood Gardens with a European-style Bosque of fifty red maples, a perennial border of over 100 perennial varieties that have won awards, a wisteria-covered pergola, and a 7-circuit labyrinth to wander through.

Fostering a sense of community has always been important to the Fleetwood Community Association. Since 1998, the Fleetwood Festival, otherwise known by locals as "Fleetwood Fest," is one way the Fleetwood Community Association strives to build this sense of community amongst its residents. Every year, everyone is invited to the Fleetwood Community Centre to celebrate their community, watch performances, enjoy activities that are perfect for the family, such as miniature golf, and even compete in a massive obstacle course. Of course, there is a barbeque for all to enjoy because what is a celebration without food?
Surrey Sport & Leisure Complex
An amazing amenity to support Fleetwood residents' well-being is the Surrey Sport & Leisure Complex. This huge complex offers fitness and fun opportunities with a 10,000 sq. ft. weight room, a 2,000 sq. ft. fitness studio where you can take fitness classes, an ice rink, and an Olympic-sized swimming pool! The swimming facilities also include two diving boards, a leisure pool, a hot tub, and a waterslide. Godwin Farm Biodiversity Preserve
A unique thing to do in Fleetwood once you've had your fill of shopping and dining is a visit to the Godwin Farm Biodiversity Preserve. Hundreds of trees, including some rare varieties, a peaceful handmade pond by the Godwin family, an old orchard of apples, blueberries, and figs, and bustling birdlife await you in this nature reserve. The Godwin family previously owned this park who planted hundreds of tree species, including Firs, Redwoods, and Sequoias. Among these tall giants is a registered heritage Douglas Fir tree over 180 years old and stretches 175-feet above the ground! The Godwins eventually gifted this wonderful legacy to the city of Surrey through the Federal Eco-Gifting program so that it would always be protected.
