In the neighbourhood of Cottonwood, there is a mix of single-family homes, older mid-century homes, and several townhome complexes. In the northwest area of Cottonwood around Meadowlark Dr., large single-family homes with four bedrooms, three bathrooms on average are present. Things to do in Cottonwood

Thomas Haney has several fields perfect for kicking around a soccer ball, playing a friendly baseball game, or skateboarding at the Thomas Haney Skate Park. 

The Trans Canada Trail passes right through the Cottonwood neighbourhood and offers excellent hiking and biking opportunities. Along Kanaka Creek, a beautiful nature trail is popular with dog walkers, joggers, and cyclists. This trail has bridges over Kanaka Creek, where you can watch migratory birds. However, be sure to carry a bear deterrent as bears are commonly spotted in this area. 

Another popular nature trail is the Kanaka Creek Regional Park. This gorgeous trail weaves along a vast swamp area with a neat three-storey lookout. If you continue along the trail, you will reach the Fraser River, and the trail gives you the option to go left or right. Left is a wide dyke along the Fraser River and right takes you through a narrower tree-covered trail with boardwalks over the water. Benches can be found along the way where you can enjoy a warm drink, snack, or take in the view.

While not located directly in Cottonwood, several shopping centres, including Haney Place Mall and Valley Fair Mall, are a quick drive, or consider taking your bike on a hot summer day and reward yourself with an ice cream cone. Several Farmers Markets, including Langley Farmer's Market, meridian Farmer's Market, and Haney Famers Market (held at Memorial Peace Park Saturdays from 9 am – 2 pm), are located nearby, providing local, freshly picked produce and gifts. 

The ACT Art Center is located in downtown Maple Ridge and hosts various activities, including live theatre shows by local arts groups and students. The Maple Ridge Leisure Center is adjacent to the ACT Art Center, which offers drop-in classes, a fitness centre, skating, swimming, and more.
