Real Estate in Coquitlam West
Coquitlam West is a neighbourhood along the border of Coquitlam and Burnaby. For this reason, locals call this area Burquitlam. The northernmost section of Burquitlam includes large lots and established family homes, often in the 3 to 5 bedroom range. These houses are found near Como Lake Ave, the main thoroughfare of this community. Many dwellings in this area have legal suites for a mortgage helper, fully fenced yards, and often attached or detached garages and workshops.
Coquitlam West proper, at the intersection of Como Lake Ave. and North Road, contains multiple newly built apartment buildings, including the recently finished Clarke & Como apartments. This rapidly growing area has apartment buildings being built and also being planned. These buildings are within walking distance to the SkyTrain for ease of commuting and proximity to amenities.
The south end of Burquitlam is a neighbourhood called Cariboo, just south of the Vancouver Golf Club. This is a quiet and established neighbourhood bordering on the culturally rich Maillardville. This area has predominantly single-family, two-story homes, with many houses being remodelled and upgraded. Some houses have been completely rebuilt for a modern outward appearance, lending to the neighbourhood’s curb appeal, and many homes offer attached single and double garages. Cariboo is part of the Burquitlam Lougheed Neighbourhood Plan, which was adopted in 2017 to ensure surrounding infrastructure and facilities will successfully support the neighbourhood's growth.
