Real Estate in Metrotown

The northern end of Metrotown along Kingsway Avenue offers one of the best options for commercial properties in Burnaby. The Crystal Mall, Station Square, and Metropolis are all concentrated here, providing the area with hundreds of retail stores, office space, and restaurants.

Expanding south towards the border at Rumble Street, you will still find commercial properties, but the focus shifts to residential properties. Between Imperial Street and Rumble Avenue, you will find that single-family detached homes make up the majority of residential property listings. Many of these houses also contain one to two-bedroom suites. Multi-family units such as apartments, condominiums, townhouses, duplexes, and triplexes are also common in the area. Most condos are found near the shopping centres and are 1 or 2 bedrooms in size. Some of these condominiums are mixed-use, meaning they contain both residential and commercial floors.

About Metrotown

Metrotown is a progressive neighbourhood that combines high-density retail options with residential properties, seamless transportation, and green space. It is perfect for those that love to shop, exercise, and live in the centre of the hustle and bustle of city life.

Metrotown is located in South Burnaby, known for its exceptional shopping and entertainment options. Shopping destinations like Metropolis and the Crystal Mall are on the northern end of Metrotown, mainly along Kingsway Avenue. The western edge borders Central Park, which contains a swimming pool, tennis courts, pitch and putt golf course, and Swangard Stadium.

Although there is a concentration of retail stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues, Metrotown also offers plenty of residential properties. Most residential properties are south of this area extending to Rumble Street. Deluxe condominiums break up the retail sector, while detached homes are found farther south. Educational options for the area include Maywood Community School, Wonderworld Montessori Academy, and nearby Marlborough Elementary School and Burnaby South Secondary School. There are several SkyTrain Station stops at Patterson, Metrotown, and nearby Royal Oak Station.

Things to Do in Metrotown

Metrotown is the ultimate shopping hub in Burnaby. With plenty of shopping options, you can be sure there is something for everyone in this impressive neighbourhood. This neighbourhood is the best of both worlds, with plenty of shopping and green space to relax in.

Metropolis at Metrotown

A visit to Metrotown is not complete without experiencing Metropolis at Metrotown. This is one of the largest shopping malls in Canada, with hundreds of stores, seasonal events, and entertainment spread over its three floors. This shopping centre has the expected retail stores, food court, and restaurants, but also grocery stores (including ethnic options) and Cineplex Cinemas. There is a TransLink bus loop with multiple bus route options and a direct connection to the Metrotown SkyTrain station. Bringing your vehicle? There are EV charging stations and ample free parking for shorter visits. It is easy to spend an entire afternoon shopping at Metropolis and enjoying the many restaurants and food and drink options.

The Crystal Mall

Located near Metropolis is a smaller shopping centre called the Crystal Mall. This mall is known as an ethnic paradise for Chinese-Asian products, food options, and fashion. The entire centre is designed as a ring lined with shops, an open courtyard in the centre complete with a statue in a fountain. This is the place to go for authentic Asian ingredients and food choices. It is a smaller shopping centre but still offers a wide selection of shops with a different vibe than Metropolis. Give it a try for something a little different.

Bonsor Recreation Complex

The Bonsor Recreation Complex contains several activities and programs for visitors. It includes a large swimming pool, exercise gym, art and music studios, and rentable rooms for events like banquets or classes. Play basketball, table tennis, squash, or join in on yoga, indoor cycling, or a dip in the pool. There is always something exciting going on, so check the schedule and see what you will explore next!

Central Park

The western edge of Metrotown borders the beautiful Central Park. This green space is an oasis among the high-energy shopping districts that Metrotown is known for. This park features Swangard Stadium, tennis courts, an outdoor pool, and an outdoor spray park to name a few. Residents love to use this park to relax, attend events, and exercise. It is a good contrast to the dense shopping district along Kingsway Avenue, which creates a balance between recreational options for the area.
