Visit Henderson Park & the Oak Bay Recreation Centre  

The Henderson Recreation Centre on Cedar Hill X Road is a social hub with fitness and recreational equipment that serves Oak Bay residents of all ages. Some of the services offered include a fitness studio, indoor court rentals, children’s programs, and access to Henderson Park. Henderson Park is an 8.28 hectare developed park with a jogging trail, outdoor fitness circuit, playground, benches, concession, change rooms, and a golf course. It is a popular place for families and community members to play organized sports like baseball, soccer, and tennis. Dogs are allowed in most areas as long as they remain on a leash. 

Take a Cultural Tour with a Songhees First Nation Guide 

Coastal Sea Ventures is a tourist adventure on the Marine Trail created by the Songhees Nation as an ‘indigenous experience,’ developed by elders to provide insight into the land, culture, and history of the Lekwungen people along the capital-area coastline. Tours are offered by a 12-passenger canoe, with a guide highlighting areas significant to the first nations people, including sacred sites, traditional camps, and places where the Lekwungen used to fish and find berries. 

Oak Bay Tea Party

The Oak Bay Tea Party is a tradition that has been around for over 50 years, with residents enjoying a parade on the first Saturday in June, followed by events like a bathtub race and an air show, live music and demonstrations, plenty of food, and of course, tea!

Bowker Creek Brush Up

The Bowker Creek Brush Up is another annual event in the Oak Bay area. This event brings in over 2,000 spectators annually and is a fun August day activity. Around forty artists come together with art enthusiasts to enjoy painting, art displays, art demonstrations, and more.
