About French Creek, Parksville, BC

French Creek is a small seaside neighbourhood on the east coast of Vancouver Island. It’s located along the Old Island Highway—a beautiful scenic route that runs along the coast from Nanaimo to Campbell River. French Creek is a quaint marine community on the Strait of Georgia, home to a bustling harbour that commercial fisherman and charter services operate from.

French Creek is a rural neighbourhood with around a thousand residents. It is part of Area G, which also includes the nearby communities of Dashwood and Qualicum Beach and the city of Parksville. French Creek is located between Qualicum Beach to the north and Parksville to the south. It’s under a ten-minute drive or a simple bike ride from French Creek to either Parksville or Qualicum Beach, giving residents access to many amenities.

French Creek is also the access point to nearby Lasqueti Island—a rural island community accessible by a small, passenger-only ferry that leaves from French Creek a few times a day. The trip to Lasqueti Island takes around an hour. Lasqueti Island is a quirky community; it’s primarily undeveloped and does not have power, running off generators.

French Creek is an ideal neighbourhood for those looking to live a laid-back life on the ocean. Avid golfers will be pleased by the handful of quality golf courses a short drive from French Creek. Those who enjoy nautical adventures will appreciate the opportunities for fishing, sailing, diving that the harbour provides access to. French Creek is home to a seafood store, a marine shop, and a charming community pub. In French Creek, you’ll be close enough to larger population centres to have everything you need, but far enough off the beaten path to enjoy rustic oceanside living on Vancouver Island.
