The Camosun neighbourhood has been built for convenience, as many residents are student renters. Amenities such as shopping centres, medical clinics, dentists, pharmacies, physiotherapists, gas stations, and restaurants are all walking distance to most homes.

Most errands are easily accomplished on foot if you do not have a vehicle. Enjoy the Water on Smuggler’s Cove

Smuggler’s Cove received this name due to its use as a boat landing point for rum runners during the prohibition era. Today, many residents go kayaking, canoeing, or stand-up paddleboarding here, accessing the calm waters via the Smuggler’s Cove kayak launch site at the tip of 10 Mile Point. This inlet overlooks the Salish Sea, and with its sandy, pebbly beach and calm waters, it is perfect for launching your small watercraft. You may also wish to visit Smuggler’s Cove Pub, a casual eatery featuring local ales and reasonably priced food.

There are no off-leash areas in Saanich to protect the delicate ecosystems, migratory birds, and other wildlife. Leashed dogs are welcome in most outdoor spaces and nature spots in Saanich, so you can still bring your dog to Smuggler’s Cove if they remain on a leash, away from the local wildlife.
