Spend Some Time on the Hidden Beach in Arbutus Cove Park
Arbutus Cove Park has what is known as a “pocket beach,” a small, secluded, public beach that is generally only popular with the locals, without apparent access from the road. Arbutus Cove is a 1.84-hectare park with open, natural parkland, with stairs and pathways leading to the beach. The sandy beach is in a tree-sheltered cove with rocky sections and features views of the mountains in the distance on clear days.
Low tide is the best time to visit this hidden treasure. You can bring the dog for a swim during the off-season (September through April). At certain times of the year, it is prudent to exercise caution when accessing this beach, as certain areas have experienced slope failures due to rainfall, leading to small landslides.
