It’s a quick drive from the nearby small city of Parksville-Qualicum. This close-knit community built Errington Hall in 1922 as a memorial to soldiers lost in World War I. Coombs has a unique history, as it was first established more than a hundred years ago by the Salvation Army as a new community for the residents of overpopulated cities in England to relocate to. The neighbourhood was named after Thomas Bales Coombs, who was the leader of the Salvation Army at the time that the community of Coombs was first formed. Early buildings in Coombs—including the old Ford Log House and the Coombs Community Commons (a school built over a century ago)—give the community its unique heritage charm.

Englishman River Regional Park

A short drive to the end of Errington Road will bring you to the Englishman River Regional Park entrance, which is very popular with residents. The Coombs market began as a small fruit stand in the 1970s, and today has evolved into a great place to pick up artisanal goods, crafts, coffee, and excellent pastries.
