Real Estate in College Estates

College Estates is a high-end residential neighbourhood in Port Alberni. Executive homes for sale make up most of the listings when they rarely become available. This is a highly sought-after area with exceptional homes and properties. Single-family suburban homes in well-kept, newer subdivisions are the showpieces for this area, but there are some townhouses and duplexes on the outer edge of the neighbourhood to choose from. Many homes are new builds, but there are some well-maintained character homes in established subdivisions as well. Due to its highly desirable location, when real estate does become available, it isn’t long before it gets sold.

About College Estates

This quiet residential area features all the benefits of living in a city but as close to the forest as you can get. It is a smaller neighbourhood that packs a punch for its amazing location and has the benefit of being close to Glenwood and Echo, allowing residents easy access to some fantastic sports and fitness amenities. Most homes have a lush forest or tree-lined view out the window, the upkeep of roads and sidewalks are well maintained, and some homes even have a rare, sneak-peak view of the inlet this far away from the water, thanks to its slight elevation.

Many residents take advantage of the fresh air from neighbouring wooded areas and the peaceful aura they all share. When the activity bug hits, it is only a short distance to walking trails, fitness facilities, and sports entertainment. If you are looking for a first-class home in a neighbourhood to match, then College Estates is for you.

Roger Creek Nature Trail

A temperate rainforest in your backyard is not an uncommon sight, thanks to the close proximity of Roger Creek. This creek runs through a second-growth forest with many walking trails. It is easy to experience the great outdoors just steps from your back door. Just a short walk gets you to the official Roger Creek Nature Trail. Along this route, you will find yourself on the historic Log Train Trail, watching beavers build their dams and being amazed at the immense size of the Roger’s Creek Giant - a Douglas Fir tree that’s been alive for hundreds of years! It is West Coast living at its finest and a great way to fit a bit of exercise into your day. Relax with the sounds of the forest and breathe in the fresh creek air just steps from your backdoor!

Alberni Valley Multiplex & Alberni Athletic Hall

Located nearby, the Alberni Valley Multiplex is the place for ice skating, playing hockey, and watching a Bulldogs hockey game with the family. Just a short distance past the college, you will find this arena and its abundance of activities. The Alberni Athletic Hall, located right next door, is a great venue for markets, exhibitions, and of course, sports! Both venues often have programs and events available to choose from year-round.

Bob Dailey Stadium

Also known as “the track,” Bob Dailey Stadium is an outdoor fitness and sports area found just past the Alberni Valley Multiplex. The 400m track circles around a field that hosts football and soccer games. Many locals use it as part of their fitness routine for walking, jogging, group exercises, or running. A set of wooden bleachers is available for the crowd to sit on while they watch a football or soccer game. Just off the track is an outdoor fitness park that uses a person’s own body weight for individualized training. Seniors appreciate the track as a social place to fit in a bit of exercise and conversation with friends and family. The rubber surface makes it easier on joints, perfect for those recovering from injuries or trying to get back in shape. The vibe is casual and welcoming for all fitness abilities.

Glenwood Centre

Just steps away from Bob Dailey Stadium is Glenwood Centre. This large indoor space host rollerblading and rollerskating programs and is often a venue of choice for markets, craft fairs, and special events like dog shows, the annual Port Alberni Toy Run, and the Alberni Fall Fair. The ample space is complimented by a raised stage, an optional concession area, and is wheelchair accessible.
