About Predator Ridge
Predator Ridge derives its name from the location itself: situated between two lakes, the area is the ideal home to many kinds of predatory birds as owls, eagles, falcons, and hawks.
The Interior Salish Indigenous Peoples originally occupied the land. Later in history, the Northwest Company and the Hudson’s Bay Company used a trail along the western edge of Okanagan Lake for fur trading purposes; the head of Okanagan Lake also drew attention during British Columbia’s Gold Rush in the 1850s.
Predator Ridge today comprises two primary neighbourhood centres: Predator Village and Meadows Landing. The area is accessible via the primary access road, Commonage Road. Predator Ridge Drive is the main collector street that connects the neighbourhood to adjacent communities. Emphasis has also been placed on alternative transportation routes for pedestrians and cyclists within the neighbourhood itself.
Predator Ridge Golf Resort, a premier tourist destination in the Okanagan, contributes significantly to the City of Vernon’s economic and employment growth. Sparking Hill Resort & Spa is another sought-after attraction. Predator Ridge is also a popular wedding venue, as the spectacular scenery provides a truly unique backdrop. Major community amenities such as grocery stores, pharmacies and banking institutions are easily available nearby at Vernon’s urban centre.

Spend the Day at Ellison Provincial Park
Immediately west of Predator Ridge, along the northeastern shoreline of Okanagan lake, lies Ellison Provincial Park. The park was first established in 1962, covering 220 hectares of land, featuring forests, a shoreline, scenic headlands, and sheltered coves.

Visit the Campbell Brown Ecological Reserve
First established in 1977, the Campbell Brown Ecological Reserve spans 107 hectares with the purpose to “preserve ecosystems transitional between Ponderosa Pine and Interior Douglas-fir, and a rattlesnake den.” The reserve is historically significant as the first ecological reserve in British Columbia that was established on donated land from Dr. Hugh Campbell-Brown, whom the reserve is now named after.
While the reserve is not intended for outdoor recreation, hiking, nature observation and photography are welcomed as long as they are non-destructive. Hunting, fishing, camping and removal of any materials is prohibited.
If you are visiting with a group of 10 or more people, permission must be received before entering the reserve.
