Things To Do in Alexis Park

Alexis Park 

Located along Alexis Park Drive, this beautiful park offers several activities to get outside for the day. Pack a lunch and grab a group of friends, with activities like basketball, horseshoe pitches, and a softball game if you have a group big enough. There are often neighbourhood tournaments and games regularly held between the friendly locals. Alexis Park has a playground for the kids, and washrooms are available for your convenience. 

A Few Activities Only a Walk Away 

Within two blocks of walking distance is the Performing Arts Centre, Vernon Curling, Multiplex, and Recreation Centre/Pool. The Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre Society was formed in 1990 to promote the building of a performing arts centre for Vernon and the surrounding district. A membership can gain you discounts on tickets and behind-the-scenes info through their newsletter. Purchase tickets online and feel secure you are supporting one of Canada's newest, most exciting performance spaces. 

Centennial Outdoor Arena

Centennial Arena is a great way to get the kids out for free activities and allows them to spend time being active outside. When weather permits, activities such as skating, hockey, shinny, and more can be enjoyed by the whole family. Information and schedules can be found online. 

Becker Park Community Trail 

Becker Trail is a very cool bike park with bike trails and a pump track. The park includes several pump tracks, an inclined climbing trail and a flow trail for beginner to intermediate abilities. Pump tracks are the perfect place to develop mountain biking skills and go for a quick ride when your time is limited. The bike park provides a fun activity for the whole family and is an excellent addition to Vernon's growing cycling infrastructure. You can also enjoy a walk or a hike, or you can bring your pets with you on a leash. 

Turtle Mountain and the Grey Canal 

Turtle Mountain is blessed with breathtaking views of the Okanagan Valley. This short but sweet trail is best enjoyed in the mid-morning and late afternoon, with the perfect amount of shade on a particularly scorching summer day. The avid horticultural buff can find all kinds of flower species, and the bird watcher should keep their eyes open for gorgeous hawks and other birds hovering above.
