Real Estate in West End

The West End has something for almost every demographic and budget, including first-time homer-owners, families, investors, and even retirees. The area is the greenest in the city and welcomes lots of shade, with several trees lining the boulevards and front yards. This neighbourhood has the highest number of heritage-style homes in Kamloops. West End is fairly sloped, and most homes were built between the 1950s - 1980s. However, many homes have seen renovations while preserving the original features and character.

Newer constructed houses sometimes pop up on the real estate market in the West End neighbourhood. The majority of real estate is single-family homes, and smaller residential homes are found east of Sixth Avenue. There are also several townhouses and apartments closer to the University. This area also caters to older adults and has several 55-plus condo developments.

There are several townhouse developments, and Hudson’s Bay Trail has a number of higher-end townhomes that overlook the Thompson river. Mission Hill is only a few minutes away and has some of the loveliest river view condos. Larger executive-style homes lie in Guerin Creek Estates with newer developments with high square footage and some with three-car garages.

About West End

West End is located on the South Shore of Kamloops and is the oldest residential neighbourhood in the city. The West End refers to the western end of downtown Kamloops. In terms of location, the West End is situated to the East by 2nd Avenue, to the West by Summit Drive, to the North by Victoria Street West and the South by Columbia Street. The neighbourhood was the main site of residential settlement during the 19th Century, and that’s why it was home to many of Kamloops’ most prominent early citizens. The neighbourhood is near several significant historic Kamloops buildings as well.

Amenities include restaurants and fine dining experiences that can be found along the main streets, including being within walking distance of the Sagebrush Art Theatre. Victoria Street is where you can shop at many clothing boutiques, bridal stores and specialty stores. Several professional offices and health-related services are also located along Seymour Street. A popular spot for locals is Scoopz on Lorne Street. They have 48 flavours of ice cream and are locally owned and operated. The West End is public transit-friendly, with at least ten bus routes and frequent service, but walking or biking is also a great option. There are many parks and playgrounds within walking distance, one of the favourites being Riverside Park, only about a twenty-minute walk. Keep active and entertained at the local YMCA/YWCA, only a few minutes away. The facility offers residents an indoor pool, hot tub, exercise facilities, sauna and several fitness classes.

Students can attend several schools, including L’ecole Lloyd George Elementary School, Beattie Elementary, South Kamloops Secondary School, and Norkam Secondary School. St. Anne’s Academy, a private school, welcomes students from kindergarten to grade twelve.
