Real Estate in Sun Rivers

Real estate opportunities include single-family homes, apartments, luxury townhomes, and condos. There are many year-round residents but also options to purchase a vacation home.

Sun River has many desirable communities, including Ironwood, Canyon Ridge, Mariposa, Sillaro Estates, Trillium and Visao Estates. Ironwood houses are designed with old-world architecture in mind, and homes sit on many large lots that are anywhere from 6,000 to 12,000 square feet. Canyon ridge overlooks the golf course perfectly, specifically the 17th and 18th greens and fairway. Sillaro Estates holds the newest homes built, and they have the best river and valley views in the community.

Sun Rivers appeals to the older demographic with their adult-only communities. These include The Pointe, Irongate Place, Stoneridge, 9th Green, Rio Vista, Rosewood and Sagewood. The Pointe is a mixture of modern and traditional architecture, and the panoramic views are breathtaking. Some of the condominium and townhouse developments in Sun River are called Belmonte, The Fairways, Golf Ridge and Talasa. Golf Ridge is a gorgeous executive townhome development in the centre of Sun Rivers. They offer a social centre and a pool. With the Strata services, the building is always maintained. This development complex offers a relaxed living style while still being able to have a busy and active lifestyle.

There are still many areas of Sun Rivers that are in development. Another reason this is such a desirable community is how they pride themselves on their “Built Green” technologies. That includes Geothermal heat and dual water systems. The future for Sun Rivers is only growing, and developers have plans for a resort hotel, village centre, and of course, future community amenities.

About Sun Rivers

The word Kamloops is the translation of the Shuswap word Tk’emlúps, meaning where the rivers meet. The Tk’emlupsemc, “people of the confluence,” called it their home for centuries. The Kamloops Reserve land base was established in 1862 under the direction of Governor James Douglas. Sun Rivers is on the northeastern side of Kamloops, above the South Thompson River and east on Highway 5. It is also built around the Sun Rivers Golf Course, now known as Bighorn Golf Course.

Amenities require you to drive out of Sun Rivers into the neighbouring communities, but there is a restaurant that is part of the Bighorn Golf Course called Bighorn Bar and Grill. If you require grocery or retail stores, it is only a five-minute commute to Aberdeen. Valleyview also has some restaurant options and coffee shops. Downtown is also only a ten-minute drive for many more options for shopping and dining. Travelling by car is the best way to travel in and around this Kamloops neighbourhood.

There are no schools currently in the community of Sun Rivers. Therefore students attend either Marion Schilling Elementary School or Valleyview Secondary School, located in Valleyview, a short seven-minute drive away. There are several other schools in the district for students in Sun Rivers to attend, depending on travel restrictions.
