Real Estate in Batchelor Heights

Batchelor Heights is a mix of old and newer single-family homes, with an average of three to four bedrooms, half-duplex units, mobile homes, and relatively new townhouses. Grasslands Boulevard, Quail Drive and Stagecoach Drive, have several townhouse units. 

Batchelor Heights has a developing community with newer homes and several vacant building lots in the upper region. The lower area consists of more mature, established homes. Large luxury homes have up to six bedrooms, double garages, and large driveways to keep your motorhome or trailer parked throughout the year.

The southern part of Batchelor Heights includes sub neighbourhoods like Linthorpe Road, Southview Terrace, Griffin Terrace, and Maple Place. Norview Place, Norfolk Court and Bearcroft Court are neighbouring areas that offer mature trees and lush landscapes. Grasslands Boulevard, Red Tail Drive and Grouse Court are southern areas that offer several small to mid-sized single-family homes. 

About Batchelor Heights

Batchelor Heights is a neighbourhood in Kamloops located ten minutes north of the city centre and is adored for its peaceful and quiet nature. The neighbouring streets see light traffic, and it is a relaxing place to reside. Batchelor Heights is an excellent place for families, and the neighbourhood even features a fenced park with a playground.

Batchelor Heights' name stems from the early settler, prospector and rancher, Owen Salisbury Batchelor. Lac Du Bois Grassland Park is a popular area for dirt biking, ATV riding, hiking, fishing, and other outdoor activities.

Transportation via bus lines is relatively poor in this area. Still, if your mode of transportation is by car, it is easy to get around, with ample parking and easy travel to The Yellowhead Highway that connects to highway #1. A convenient mini-mall is only five minutes away, with a grocery store, fast food restaurants, and other amenities. 

There are no schools directly in Batchelor Heights. Still, children can attend neighbouring schools such as Westmount Elementary School, Westsyde Secondary School, Brocklehurst Middle School or NorKam Senior Secondary School. There are also a couple of private schools to note: OLPH, serving kindergarten to grade 7 and Kamloops Christian School, which serves kindergarten to grade 12.

Things To Do in Batchelor Heights

Batchelor Heights is a wonderful neighbourhood for families to call home. There is a fully fenced park, Saddleback Park and McQueen Lake are beautiful walking paths to take in the gorgeous views, nature, and wildlife. Tournament Capital Centre is located within a fifteen-minute drive, a sports centre that hosts basketball games, a running track, and seats 2,200.

McArthur Island Park     

Only a ten-minute drive from Batchelor Heights, McArthur Island Park is named after Arthur S. McArthur, a successful Kamloops grocer from whom the City of Kamloops purchased the island park in the late 1950s. The park is over 120 acres and hosts many outdoor activities featuring biking and walking paths, picnic areas, soccer fields, ball diamonds, curling rinks, and a tennis court. Even a skateboard park and a nine-hole golf course are found on McArthur Island.

Riverside Park

Riverside Park in Kamloops is only fifteen minutes away from downtown. It is a beautiful park that locals enjoy visiting regularly. Bordered by the Thompson River with a beautiful sandy beach, tennis courts, pickleball courts, and the Variety Kids Centennial Water Park, perfect for cooling off during those scorching summer months. Music in the Park is also held on summer evenings at the Rotary Bandshell. 

Tobiano Golf Course  

Tobiano Golf Course is just over 30 minutes away, and it is a gorgeous eighteen-hole course to get away from day-to-day life. Located on the historic Six Mile Ranch, this course is ranked #24 in Canada by Score Golf Magazine. Surrounded by rocky canyons and bluffs, the architecture is designed for viewing Kamloops Lake from every hole. They host events, including men's and ladies night and feature the Black Iron Club and Grill, a premier place to dine with breathtaking views.
